The Haven Plaza Housing Development Fund Company, Inc. enlisted CTA to devise and execute resilient measures for their low-income housing complex at 212 Ave C, New York, NY. Our primary objective was to address the site's storm resiliency requirements following the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

The project encompassed the creation of a new structure to accommodate a boiler plant, delivering steam heat and liberating the complex from reliance on the City's steam supply. To ensure future storm protection, we meticulously positioned the new building above the design flood elevation.

In addition to the new building, we elevated the existing electrical meter equipment and modified the elevators in two buildings to include emergency recall service and waterproof cabling to ensure that the complex would continue to function in the event of a power outage or other emergency.

We take pride in contributing to the resilience of this low-income housing complex, a sentiment validated by our receipt of the Society of American Registered Architects (SARA) Design Award of Merit in 2021. This project is a testament to our unwavering dedication to crafting sustainable, robust, and inclusive communities that benefit all residents.
