Our project involved designing and installing a new roof structure for the 9,300 square foot arcade on the top floor of Jerome Greene Hall, a steel-frame building with a limestone facade designed by Harrison & Abramovitz in 1961, which serves as Columbia University's Law School. The arcade had originally been open-air, but was enclosed to create additional office and classroom space.

Our team designed a new roof structure that included an insulated roof assembly, skylights, and flashings, which were installed over the arcade. We also installed new thermally broken metal windows to match the existing conditions and to ensure a seamless transition between the new addition and the original design.

Our focus throughout the project was on maintaining the integrity of the building's original design while meeting the needs of the Law School for additional space. We worked closely with the client to ensure that our design met their requirements, and with the contractor to ensure that the installation was completed according to our specifications.

The result of our work is a new roof structure that not only provides additional space for the Law School, but also enhances the building's overall aesthetic and functionality. The new skylights bring natural light into the arcade, while the insulated roof assembly and thermally broken windows improve energy efficiency and provide a more comfortable indoor environment.
