Public School 105X

The design concept for the new addition at PS 105X takes the form of a four-story bar building layout situated atop a larger base level, easily accessible from the sidewalk. This layout incorporates double-loaded end-lit corridors, with administrative offices and kindergarten classrooms occupying the first floor.

On the second, third, and fourth floors, one can find 1st to 5th grade classrooms, along with Special Education classrooms and specialized instruction rooms such as those for Science, Art, and Music classes. The third floor is dedicated to D75 instruction, providing highly specialized support for students facing significant challenges.

This new addition seamlessly integrates with the existing building across multiple levels. A mid-level connection joins the new building to the existing play yard and the sole accessible elevator within the current structure. A centrally situated lobby, located at grade level, serves as the main entry point. It is linked to the first-floor level via a staircase and elevator. The first floor of the new addition aligns perfectly with that of the existing building. Of note, the basement-level cafeteria, which is at grade, is accessible from both the new addition and the existing building, as well as directly from the lobby. This comprehensive design ensures smooth connectivity, efficient functionality, and optimal utilization of space to meet the educational and administrative needs of PS 105X.
