St. John’s Episcopal Church

Built in 1765 by William Nicoll, St. John’s Episcopal Church originally bore the name "Charlotte Church," honoring the wife of King George III of England. During the Revolutionary War, it played a notable role, believed to have been occupied by the British as a barrack. After the war, it was renamed St. John's Church, and its significance endured through the years, leading to its inclusion on the National Register in 1994. Today, it stands as an active Episcopal congregation cherished by the community.

Our team was entrusted with a significant undertaking: the replacement of the historic wood shingle roof. The existing roof had deteriorated over time, necessitating a complete replacement. To maintain the authenticity of the church's appearance, we carefully selected fire-resistant, treated, hand-split cedar shingles that faithfully replicated the original roof's aesthetic.

Recognizing the cultural and architectural significance of St. John's Episcopal Church, we approached this project with great care and respect. We ensured that the replacement roof not only met modern standards of durability and safety but also honored the church's rich history and timeless beauty.
