Designed by Harvey Wiley Corbett of Helme & Corbett Architects in 1925, this pre-war building features exquisite face brick on the top floors, cut limestone ashlar on the ground floor, and granite at the base. The ornate design of the building includes double-height arched windows with cut limestone columns, a decorative limestone string cornice above the second-floor windows, and ornamental limestone pieces over the main entry.

We began working on this project after the submission of the Cycle 8 SWARMP FISP reports for both buildings: 29 East 9th Street and 35-45 East 9th Street. Our main goal was to repair all conditions listed on the report and address any additional issues observed during the preparation of the construction documents.

Our restoration work focused on localized masonry restoration and repointing, replacement of window sills and lintels, patching of stucco, and replacement of limestone at the ground floor. We took care to match the original finishes and configurations as closely as possible, even though the building is not landmarked. We also reviewed stucco coatings at the bulkheads and limestone at the ground floor to ensure they were as close to the original as possible. We are proud to have worked on the restoration of this beautiful pre-war building to help preserve its historic charm for future generations to enjoy.
