The First Park Food Kiosk project involved the construction of a small building in a New York City park near East First Street and First Avenue. The kiosk was designed to serve as a food concession operated by a neighborhood resident partnership, and our team worked closely with the group to create a building that would meet their needs and the needs of the community.

The building features a steel frame and masonry construction, with a copper shingle roof and metal infill panels. The design was carefully presented to and approved by both the New York City Arts Commission and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, ensuring that it would meet all necessary standards and requirements.

Our team's design for the kiosk was inspired by the diversity of the surrounding neighborhood. We aimed to create a building that would reflect this diversity and that would also fit seamlessly into the natural surroundings of the park. To achieve this, we incorporated an organic roof and ridge line that were meant to evoke "animal art" in city parks, in response to the Parks Commissioner's request. The completed kiosk provides a new amenity for the community, offering a space for food and socializing in the park.
