Joseph Lloyd Manor

The Joseph Lloyd Manor, originally constructed in the Georgian style circa 1766, underwent various alterations over the years. These changes encompassed competing Colonial Revival, Victorian, and Greek Revival styles, including additions such as a columned porch, brick terrace, windows, dormers, and extended roof eaves.

In 1968, the Manor was gifted to the Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities (SPLIA), now Preservation Long Island. Detailed investigations were conducted to propose a full restoration of the house. Based on the investigative findings and recommendations from restoration consultants, the scope of work included reconstructing the front porch to the Greek-Revival configuration, with four equally-spaced columns flanking the front entrance. Other tasks included minor window replacement, chimney removal, and painting.

In 2019, CTA prepared an exterior conditions report to assess the condition of the Manor's major exterior elements. The report documented observed problems, recommended repairs, and provided an initial cost estimate. CTA's recommendations were guided by a comprehensive review of the building's history, as provided by Preservation Long Island, the Historic Structures Report, and other available documentation.
