Originally built in 1927 as part of a controversial yoga ashram known as the “Clarkstown Country Club”, this attractive single-family home is nestled on a dead end opposite South Mountain at the end of the Nyack College Campus.

Our project consisted of a renovation at this two-and-a-half story stone-and-tudor residence. The interior work included the construction of a new staircase to the existing attic, as well as all work required to meet current codes, including egress, sprinklers, and energy codes. Upon completion of the work, the attic was transformed into a bright and spacious studio-like space. The bathroom fixtures were salvaged from a previous, early renovation, as was the arched solid wood door, which is typical throughout the remainder of the house. At the exterior, the existing attic windows were enlarged as part of the project. Work also includes the construction of a pergola over the existing east stone patio.
