Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Harlem, a distinguished granite church constructed in 1873, holds a prominent corner site with imposing masonry-bearing walls and a steeple adorned with a full carillon. Designed by the renowned ecclesiastical architect Henry M. Congdon, the church proudly stands as an individually designated New York City Landmark.

A notable feature of Saint Andrew’s is its splendid figured slate roofs, accentuating the elegance of the architecture. Our restoration encompassed a comprehensive slate roof replacement, including the aisles, naves, and steeple, as well as the replacement of rear flat membrane roofs. New sheet metal finials, skylights, perimeter flashings, and gutters were meticulously crafted and installed. We made sure that all the replaced elements matched the original roof precisely, harmonizing the restoration with the church's authentic design. The project also involved localized masonry rebuilding and replacement to enhance structural integrity.

Thanks to the generous funding from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, along with support from the New York Landmarks Conservancy, our team successfully carried out the roof replacement at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, preserving this historic landmark for generations to come.
