The restoration of the Streb Lab for Action Mechanics (SLAM) was a challenging project with a very limited budget, but one that was ultimately successful due to the shared commitment of the restoration team and the generous donations of goods and services from suppliers and contractors.

Replacing all of the facebrick and partially rebuilding portions of the lower 3-wythe wall were significant tasks, and yet the work was able to be done while keeping the space occupied and functional for Streb Extreme Action's performances and classes. The installation of new insulated glass swinging and g and overhead garage doors and casement windows has enhanced the building's energy efficiency and improved the overall appearance of the facade.

Rebuilding the parapet to increase its height was important for safety and building code compliance. The façade was rebuilt with higher upper level windows in anticipation of the installation of a new mezzanine level, but the finished façade was detailed to look like the original well-loved face of SLAM.  That the restoration work was completed during a particularly aggressive winter with three nor'easters is a testament to the team's dedication and resilience.
